ABOUT THE RAINBOW BRIDGE WALK

The walk, named after the poem, THE RAINBOW BRIDGE, was started in 2011 to provide pet owners a way to pay tribute to their pets who have passed away. (Download the poem by clicking on the PDF.)

REGISTRATION

Online Registration is preferred and helps us to prepare materials and gift bags. You may also register on the day of the walk.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Anything that brings you comfort: your pet's collar, favorite toy, etc.

  • Your current pet on a non-retractable leash.

  • An umbrella if it looks like it may rain. (The ceremonies will take place in the covered pavilion.)

  • A can or small bag of cat or dog food for pets at the local SPCA. (Optional) Preferred pet foods/supplies: 

    • Canned food for kittens and adult cats (Friskies, Fancy Feast, 9-Lives)

    • Pedigree or Purina One – Regular sized or “Small Bites” for puppy and adult dogs

    • Purina Cat & Kitten Chow dry for our cats and kittens

    • Kitten replacement milk (GNC, KMR, Etc – NO HARTZ PLEASE)

    • Clumping or fragrance-free non-clumping clay litter

  • A tax-deductible donation to help purchase supplies for the next walk. (Optional)

  • Insect repellant. 

  • A camera if you'd wish.

  • Hand sanitizer if you wish.

  • A small box of crayons for your child to draw a picture for your pet. (Optional)

  • A folding lawn chair in case we run out of seating.

  • FYI-Water will be provided for walkers and pets.
     

*We will be writing a short message (optional) to our Rainbow pets which we will tie to a line and hang on the bridge at the park so you may want to give some thought to your message beforehand.

WHAT TO WEAR
  • Wear a yellow shirt to  symbolize the sunshine our pets brought to our lives. (optional)

  • Pin to your shirt a picture of your pet with his/her name in marker if you'd like.

Help us keep this event free to attendees. Donations are accepted on the day of the event.

Donations will help us provide gift bags, refreshments for all participants, and consumable supplies.
